Of late there has been a great deal of talk about Swine Flu and what we need to do to look after ourselves.
Unlike Cork & Derry, the Dublin Diocese, after consultation with the HSE is not asking Parishes to do away with the Sign of Peace at Mass.
The HSE advises that anyone who is unwell with a cold or flu of any kind, should stay away from church until they are well again.
The HSE advises normal good hygiene, that is, regularly washing hands and staying away from someone who is obviously very unwell. At the bottom of this page you'll find a link to the HSE leaflet which you can read or download and print for yourself.
With all the talk of Swine Flu, it is important not to forget about 'ordinary' flu. If your doctor normally recommends that you get a 'flu jab', then make sure to do so this year.
Luckily, most people who have contracted swine flu, have had a very mild dose. In fact in some cases people have been advised just to take the usual cold & flu medicine as distinct from anti-viral drugs.
You can get more online information from the HSE website.
Remember, if you think you have contracted Swine Flu, do not go to the doctor. Ring the surgery. By doing this you will avoid spreading the infection. Overreacting or panicking will do no one any good.
