Baptisms take place on the First Sunday
of the Month after the 11.30am mass
All enquires to Rita Kavanagh,
Sacristan. 01-5157512,

What do you need to do?
To apply to have your child Baptised in
Francis Street Parish you must be
resident in the parish. Having your
child baptised is the beginning of a
journey to becoming a full member of
God's Family, the Church. There are
three steps involved: Baptism, First
Communion and Confirmation. This is not
like joining a club. This is about
becoming part of the parish family and
through that, the family of God. As
parents you are committing yourselves to
bringing your child up according to the
values of the Gospel. That can be summed
up in the words of Jesus himself, "Love
the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your
mind and your neighbour as yourself."
This isn't always easy to do and that's
why we are given the parish community to
support and encourage one another.
What documents do you need?
You must provide a copy of your child's birth certificate and complete the form below and return to the sacristy by email or in person. To get started you will need to contact our sacristan. The best way to do that is to ring 01-5157512 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 10.45am and 12noon. If this is not convenient, you can contact her by email: rita@francisstreetparish.ie
Before you do any of the above, you
should consider what this commitment
means and whether you are willing to
journey with your child through the
various stages of becoming part of God's
Family.
Who can attend?
The Government has recently said that 50 people can attend a baptism. However that is not realistic for our church. In our parish 25 people may attend. This includes the parents and God parents. In order to have the church ready, you will need to let us have the list of 25 people one week before the baptism. When you prepare the list, you should put together those who live together as we will be able to seat them together. You will be given a date and time to attend. Everyone who is invited must be there on time. When you come into the church you will have to sanitise your hands and wear a mask (we have masks for those who may arrive without them). Seats will be assigned according to the list you provide. Our church is 'deep cleaned' twice a week, which offers the best protection we can provide.
